Cherokee Brewery once filled a block between Iowa and Ohio, with beer stored in deep underground lagering cellars. Most of the complex vanished, but its surviving stock house and remarkable cellars preserve a hidden layer of St. Louis brewing history.

The Story

What Remains Today

The former Cherokee Brewery stock house survives at 2724 Cherokee Street. Portions of its lower levels and historic lagering cellars also survive beneath the property, while most of the larger brewery complex that once occupied the block has disappeared.

Visiting Information

The surviving brewery building is private property and access to the underground cellars is not guaranteed. The exterior can be viewed from Cherokee Street. Do not enter underground spaces or private areas without explicit permission.
